Kathleen King and Lowey Bundy Sichol, with illustrations by Ramona Kaulitzki,

Cookies, cookies, and more cookies!  ‘Cookie Queen’ created by Kathleen King and Ramona Kaulitzki is a true story and a children’s picture book of how a little girl named Kathleen, the author, who always enjoyed cooking but fancied baking.  The little girl had the idea of making the best cookie ever.  She bakes cookies and sells them at the family farm stand and they become popular, but before that, she has to figure something out about them to make them special.

Kathleen shows and tells with the help of Ramona the quite realistic pictures of the kitchen and the farm stand and the surroundings around them for this makes it fun for young readers to pick up and look at or read.  The bold black print of the words makes it easy for the teacher and the children to read for all who read the story.  All the characters are identifiable, and the readers will enjoy meeting each one.  It could also be one where maybe a special treat could be offered to the children after reading the story for there is a recipe offered at the end of the book and she tells how she started ‘Tate’s Bake Shop’._______________________________
