The Hooded Sweefa

                           A.M. Seifried

What an imagination.  A.M. Seifried has written a children’s picture book entitled ‘The Hooded Sweefa’.  What is a Sweefa?  You will find out as you read the story.  The main characters of Sweefa and Nessa and their job of doing away of evil and bringing love to all as the are enjoying themselves, and then all of a sudden a villain approaches and threatens the whole town.  This could also be a story of learning how to bargain as Frakin’ McNuttso soon learns.

A.M. Seifried

has written a story that is sweet with a bit of sour, which makes this a story that could pass in my eyes as a very beginning mystery book, because Sweefa and Nessa has to find out why Frakin’ wants all the nuts.

The artwork uses primary colors along with various shading techniques as in ‘Nessa’ and ‘Sweefa’ skin types, etc.  The nature aspects of the forest scenes are realistic and visually appealing to me along with any young reader who looks and reads the book.  This is a story of how to make friends and being a friend in general to all who may approach you.

Teachers could use The Hooded Sweefa to teach a new vocabulary word as in the word  ‘justice’ or the teacher could ask ‘What do you think is ‘justice’ pertaining to the story?  Are Sweefa and Nessa being fair to Frakin’?

And besides-Who doesn’t love a book about UNICORNS! The artwork is adorable
