Who remembers learning to write the alphabet? Well, B.C.R. Fegan seems to remember and in this children’s picture book ‘The Day That A Ran Away’ is a book that answers that question in so many words.  A story of a little boy by the name of Master Jet and his teacher Mrs. May.  Master Jet was suppose to do his homework and as all students he makes various excuses for not doing his homework.  Fegan has done a very creative way of showing what happens.
Lenny Wen, the illustrator, has drawn pictures of how each of the letters would look like by the words of B.C.R. Fegan.  The pictures are vivid and gave me an energetic feeling.  My favorite pictures are for the emotions that are exhibited from ‘B’, ‘D’, ‘E’ and ‘G’.  All the letters have a story told through the pictures drawn that explains the words better.
This is a good picture book for teachers of preschool, kindergarten, and early primary grades for this is a good book for them to teach the alphabet and manuscript writing.  It is a very enjoyable picture book for ‘The Day That A Ran Away’ that is a five-star read for kids, parents and the teachers.

Summary

Master Jet has forgotten to complete his homework… or has he? Jet’s teacher is surprised to find that instead of the alphabet, his page is completely blank. Jet tries to explain that it really isn’t his fault. After all, how can he help it, if none of his letters want to stay on the page!
