            20 RECIPES

By Esme Washburn and Calista Washburn

ESME and CALISTA WASHBURN are sisters living in New York City. Esme, who is in middle school, is an amateur chef and cooking enthusiast. She has learned everything she knows from her grandmother. Calista, a recent high school graduate and budding photographer, loves helping out in the kitchen and eating the delicious food that Esme cooks.

kids cookbooksSo what do these two Sisters do? One that loves to cook and one that loves Photography. They pool their talents and come up with a beautifully photographed cookbook for Kids!

Ok so I know what you’re thinking. A cookbook for kids? What’s it got, recipes for boloney or Peanut butter sandwiches? (or is it Bologna?) never could figure that out. No, although it does have Grilled Cheese as one of it’s entries. These recipes are full blown big time. We’re talking homemade Pasta and Homemade Bread here folks. There are of course some “Kid Favorites” like pizza(From Scratch) a yummy and I think my favorite Mac&Cheese dish.

I don’t want to go down the whole list of recipe’s here but the ones we tried with my Granddaughter turn out great.

The book is more than just a group of different recipes. There are helpful hints about working in the kitchen. Also with a nice glossary of cooking terms.

This is obviously a great cookbook for kids to get them into cooking and maybe away from their phones and iPads. The best thing about it is the young Chef/Author Esme Washburn showing her love of cooking and what young people can do if they put the time and effort in.

By no means can we not mention the work of Calista the older sister. Calista is the photographer of course. Cookbooks are all well and good if you are just looking for printed recipes .But to see how the finished product looks and how the pictures get your mouth watering…

The perfect book for children, this fun and engaging cookbook is written and photographed by a pair of teenage sisters for budding chefs
