A world of dreams in many ways and James Turner has written a young adult novel entitled ‘Theo Paxstone and the Dragon of Adyron. Theo Paxstone, a mechanic, with imagination. He and his friends seem to live in two worlds. A story of inventions and how these inventions can change ideas of others.
James Turner wrote this book to inspire a reader’s imagination and creativity. I was reading this book and the one part that really hit me was on pages 250 and 251, when James wrote the scene describing a spider in minute details that brought back my worst nightmare. This brings me to the work of the illustrations that were black and white throughout the book, even though they were black and white sketches they were detailed that let the reader really picture the scenes that are written.
Using this young adult novel in a classroom could lead to a science lesson on spiders and nature as well as one or a few on inventions. As said before a novel of being creative in many areas of learning. Theo Paxstone is a character that is learning where he fits in with the society around him. This is a young adult novel that is about friendship and learning social skills at various levels.
This story is a five star read.
