This book is an inspirational book that will inspire you to look at your life and look at the areas in your life that you would like to change in order to aid you with becoming a happier person. In this book, Gretchen looks at her life and contemplates how she can become a happier person. Gretchen then picks out some areas of her life that she will change and focuses on improving one area in her life over the course of a month. She repeats this for the other months of the year with the goal of improving another aspect of her life. Gretchen focuses in on the topics of vitality, marriage, work, parenthood, leisure, friendship, money, eternity-(pursuing a passion), mindfulness, and attitude and then for the month of December she pulls all the areas together and reviews how her life has improved. Gretchen Rubin adds much thought, research (of how improving the area has made other people happier), includes others input, tries new things and finally changes that area of her life to the better.
The book continues much humor, life insights from many famous individuals, (some of her favorite are Benjamin Franklin and St. Therese of Lisieux) and inspiration of starting your own happiness project. At the end of the book-it has a guide of how you can start your own happiness project, includes different books on the subject on happiness and examples of other books of peoples’ happiness projects. All and all a good, enjoyable and inspirational read one you’d you enjoy.
