Jig Gets Lost

Julia Kneeland & Illustrated by  Rachael Budd Who doesn’t like a good animal or puppy story.  ‘Jig Gets Lost’ a children’s picture book that should make readers want apuppy or even an adult dog.  Julia Kneeland writes about a little puppy named Jig and his day in the neighborhood and his various adventures. Jig gets LostJulia is a writer who is also a teacher, who has written this picture book for beginner readers.  She chose to have primary type for easy reading and Rachael has drawn the pictures that were vivid and described the written words perfectly to me.  The pictures were also realistic images for her work in this book.  There are many lessons that could or can be created from this children’s story book.  Ideas for activities could be on community workers, what makes a family, and maybe even a few geography lessons.  ‘Jig’ is a character that shows many emotions/feelings in this early reader that may be a start for a discussion on having feelings that we all have at one time or another.  My favorite picture pages were the ones where Jig is being scratched by one vendor, the family picture at the end and even the one where Jig is looking at the map.  Cannot wait for the next in the series.

Jig Gets Lost is an adventure story about a dog named Jig. He lives in a big city and decides he wants to go exploring. One day he leaves his home and discovers the wonderful smells from the street vendors selling all different kinds of foods. He meets a young vendor who gives him a treat! But when he looks around to get back home, he cannot find his way. Read on to find out how Jig gets back!
