Yaakov the Pirate Hunter
(Peretz Family Adventures)
By Nathaniel Wyckoff
Pirates! Treasure,Robots! All in a nice family adventure.C’mon what’s not to like.Yaakov the Pirate Hunter has it all
Pirates and Robots are not usually found in the same book together but this is not your everyday story of the swashbuckling pirate adventure now is it? Yaakov the Pirate Hunter is the first in the Peretz Family Adventure series and it is a very good start to the series .
This is the perfect book to get into with your kids. After reading it there’s no way they won’t be wanting to know more about Yaakov and his family. The adventure moves along at a very nice pace to keep young readers interested. It’s quite fun the way author Nathaniel Wyckoff mixes the idea of pirates and robots. This sci/fi adventure takes place in the future where everyone owns robots .These robots are all programed to do different jobs, which just so happens to help out the Peretz family quite nicely.
As you may have guessed Yaakov and his family are Jewish and that fact adds greatly to the story. We learn a little about Jewish family life which is also a nice part of the book as it teaches kids a little about a different culture. Also Jewish history is built into the story.
A very easy read for young readers and very educational and so much fun I think kids will love it.

About Nathaniel Wyckoff
Nathaniel Wyckoff was born and raised in the beautiful San Fernando Valley of southern California. From an early age, he was profoundly interested in reading, writing, telling, and listening to stories.
Though he works in a technical field, he counts storytelling among his favorite activities. Nathaniel’s storytelling career took flight with the births of his children. His children enjoy all kinds of stories, but most of Nathaniel’s stories for them involve zany adventures and confrontations with wacky bullies. Nathaniel’s first novel, Yaakov the Pirate Hunter, was inspired by his son’s request for a story about robots. It combines elements of science, adventure, and Nathaniel’s beloved Jewish tradition. As the Peretz Family Adventures Series continues, Nathaniel’s children continue to serve as a source of inspiration.
