Taylor Lautner SNL Twilight (video)

Taylor Lautner appeared on SNL last night and the best skit is the Team Jacob one I have posted below. In his monologue, which focused mainly on his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, and her experiences with Kanye West at the MTV VMAs was a bit stale and played out at this point, I’ll say this about Lautner: he really committed 100% to whatever they asked him to do. He was enthusiastic and willing to look silly, and though he could have just sat there and clipped his toenails and 50% of the viewing audience would have squealed happily, he was willing to mock his own shirtless werewolf image and make people laugh:
Hexbug Nano Review

If you have a youngster whose stocking needs stuffed this holiday season with a fun but affordable toy, the HEXBUG Nano may be your best solution. With a retail price of just $7.99, the Hexbug Nano from Innovation First International is an irresistible, ultra-engaging bug-like robotic toy that uses the physics of vibration and robotic intelligence to skitter along and explore its environment on smooth surfaces.
The HEXBUG Nano provides hours of fun for the entire family and is now available at ToysRUs & RadioShack stores nationwide. As a nice add-on benefit, HEXBUG Nano fanatics interested in the lore of science and discovery can visit www.handandstars.com to test their knowledge of scientific history and key scientific discoveries, engage in online game play, and register their Nano collection to earn points and global prestige. HEXBUGS are designed to engage and inspire kids at a young age by giving them a positive experience with robotics, ideally furthering their educational interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.
The HEXBUG Nano is without question the most interesting, entertaining, and sophisticated toy that costs less than $10 that I have ever seen. One challenge we found is that the HEXBUG is so frisky that you should try to establish clear boundaries for them before you turn them loose. They operate with a natural affinity for turning and flipping when faced with boundaries. We ended up having to dig ours out from under the fridge and TV until we realized to keep them under wraps.
Described by my father in law as an electronic bug, the HEXBUG is sure to be a highlight for your child this Christmas!
World’s Ugliest Animals (Pictures)

Nolan and I were looking at pictures from the World’s Ugliest Animals and I just HAD to post a few of our favorites from the new 2009 list. I’ve never seen or heard of most of them before, but they are too funny (and ugly) that I had to share! Nolan’s comments were so cute (he is five) and he learned about some funny new animals. The last animal picture I posted is just too scary for words. You can find the rest of the list and pictures here at this website. Which animal is your “favorite”?

The Blobfish
This little guy looks more like a cartoon character than a fish. The Blob fish has very few muscles and move very slowly, floating like a jelly fish. To eat, the Blob fish waits on the bottom of the ocean for prey to pass by. Credits: ScienceDiscovery.com/ NORFANZ 2005

The Red-lipped Batfish Credits: Cole/Getty
The lipstick won’t help. This ugly fish has quite a pout. They are terrible swimmers and use their pectoral fins to “walk” on the ocean floor.

The Star Nosed Mole
A resident of the North America, this mole makes up for his poor eyesight with a hairless nose that is a “star” of 22 fleshy tentacles. The tentacles are extremely sensitive, they can even sense electricity!

The Aye-Aye
Shawn Johnson Dancing With Stars Pictures

We are so excited! Our native Iowa girl from nearby is not only an Olympic Award Star, she will soon be a Dancing Star! Shawn Johnson has released her Dancing With the Stars pictures via her Flicker Stream. She looks so adorable. She also gave her first interview at our local television station about her new adventure. Her main concerns are getting used to wearing heels, which she doesn’t ever wear and her height. She is a petite 4 feet 10 inches. She is also the youngest contestant ever to compete on DWTS. Her partner is Mark Ballas. So expect some DWTS videos coming up starting March 9th. Here is the list of the rest of the cast. Let’s vote off Denise Richards the first week.

Smooth Away- Not So Smooth
February 17, 2009 by Tracy

Do you watch those infomercials on TV? They can be oddly captivating and somehow convince you that “a blanket with sleeves” is something you absolutely can’t live without. I remember watching the “Smooth Away” commercial and thinking “no way would that work.” FuelMyBlog had the opportunity for bloggers to test it out, and I thought it would be fun to try.
The product came with two buffing applicators, one that was slightly larger than the palm of my hand, and a smaller applicator. There were five pads in each of the two sizes, a bright green carrying pouch, and a large tube of lotion.
So I peeled off the back to one of the pads and stuck it on the handle. It was very easy to get ready .
The pads are smooth to the touch. I slipped the tool over my hand and gently buffed my legs in a small clockwise circle three times per area just as the instructions specify. It did get rid of my hair, but some hairs were still there and it took forever.

PLUS: It is a great idea! Clear instructions. It did work okay. The price is good.
Minus: It took SO long, didn’t get all the hairs, and I had stubble two days later.
I want to point out, I have sensitive skin and the lotion and buffing didn’t irritate my skin. It might work for other women, but I will stick to my trusty razor. If you are interested they do have a good deal at their website. FuelMyBlog is highly recommended and you can sign up for product reviews!
ADD A MINUS
Saturday Night Live: The Lawrence Welk Sisters Show (Video)

Saturday Night Live has not been very funny at all lately. It was so great up until the election. I guess there isn’t very good material now, with Sarah Palin gone. This skit was my favorite, and in the move of my blog it disappeared, so I thought I would share it again. I LOVE to watch it for a good laugh. Enjoy!

Late Show With Letterman – Where’s Joaquin Phoenix? – 2/11/09

He’s in the chair, but is Joaquin Phoenix present for his interview? Weird interview with Joaquin from David Letterman last night. I used to really like his acting. Thoughts? Is he acting? Drugs? Either way, the whole thing is odd and sad. Plus look how cute he used to be. David is hilarious as always though.
Nadya Suleman: Octuplets Mom Speaks on “Today” (Video)
February 5, 2009 by Tracy

In the first interview with Nadya Suleman, the mother of the octuplets explains why she thinks having 14 children was a responsible choice and why she’s being unfairly attacked because she’s a single mom.
Below is the video of her interview from this morning. I am also linking to a teriffic article from The Toronto Star that goes against the onslaught of media news and comments saying we should basically banish her and her children, that I hope you will read. It is not a popular opinion, but a compassionate one. I think it is one that we should all have towards any other human beings and I know there are more people out there that do. Next week The Today Show will have video of her babies and I think and hope their faces will encourage that compassion.
