Redbox Gives Consumers the Chance to Win a Year’s Worth of Free Rentals through ‘Spotlight Awards’ Contest
With the Academy Awards® just around the corner, movie lovers are getting ready for the big event and already deciding on their favorites in categories including Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Animated Film. The country’s most popular DVD rental kiosk, redbox, now has many of the award-nominated movies available to rent prior to the awards ceremony on March 7 at its more than 20,000 locations nationwide. To add to the excitement, consumers can also cast their votes online for their winning picks for the chance to win prizes with the redbox® Spotlight Awards contest.
“With so many award-nominated movies, chances are the majority of consumers missed a few of them during their big-screen runs,” said Gary Cohen, senior vice president, marketing and customer experience, redbox. “Redbox is the perfect option for consumers who either missed these films in the theater or want to create an award-winning movie night at home.”
For adventure-seekers, revel in the action and drama of “The Hurt Locker” or Quentin Tarantino’s “Inglourious Basterds” starring Brad Pitt. For one of the best sci-fi flicks this year, check out “District 9” produced by the award-winning Peter Jackson. Or, let Meryl Streep put a smile on your face with her role as Julia Child in “Julie & Julia.” Even if you’re looking to entertain the kids with a family-friendly flick, there’s an option for you. Check out “Coraline” or “Up” – both nominated for Best Animated Film.
Redbox continuously stocks kiosks with top new releases. Be on the look out for these nominated titles coming soon to redbox kiosks:
- “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire” – available March 9, 2010
- “Up in the Air” – available March 9, 2010
- “The Princess and the Frog” – available March 16, 2010
- “An Education” – available March 30, 2010
- “Crazy Heart” – available April 20, 2010
The Spotlight Awards contest gives consumers a chance to cast their votes for their favorites in seven award categories and they will be entered to win a grand prize of a year’s worth of movies (365 one-night movie rentals). The individual who correctly guesses all seven categories, and who comes closest to guessing the number of DVDs rented at redbox kiosks nationwide on the day of the Academy Awards ceremony, without going over, will win the grand prize. In addition, runner-up winners will be selected based on the number of award categories correctly selected. More details and official rules can be found at http://www.redbox.com
Redbox invites movie-lovers to reserve DVDs online at www.redbox.com or via an iPhone® and pick them up at the redbox location of their choice. Each fully automated redbox kiosk holds 630 DVDs, representing up to 200 of the newest movie releases. Consumers simply use a touch screen to select their favorite movies, swipe a valid credit or debit card and go. Customers can keep the DVD for as long as they’d like for one low nightly rate, and return it to any one of redbox’s more than 20,000 locations nationwide.

Taylor Lautner Weight Gain Picture and New Moon News
Latest Twilight News:

New Moon star Tayor Lautner looks like he accomplished the task of gaining weight in time to start filming New Moon coming up in March. My question though is more from a “mom” concern. Is it healthy for a 16 year old boy to do this so quickly?

New Moon official logo released this week. A couple of articles discussing Eclipse Movie release dates (June 30,2010) and summary already! Mtv.com and ew.com Chris Weitz won’t direct.
New Twilight Books Coming Soon. Catherine Hardwicke Twilight Directors Notebook and The Twilight Saga: Official Guide . Stephenie started a new official website called The Twilight Saga. And of course the Twilight DVD release date is March 21st!

Jackson Rathbone, who plays Jasper has been a popular search on my site, so this if for those fans.

Stephenie Meyer recommends The Girl Who Could Fly by Victoria Forester on her site, her last recommendation was The Hunger Games and I loved it.

Fans of Twilight are so creative and talented, here are a few Fan-made posters of New Moon

The CW is capitalizing on the Twilight popularity. They reportably picked up a pilot based on L.J. Smith’s book series, Vampire Diaries. The first book of the series was originally published in 1993. The books revolve around a young lady who is torn between two vampire brothers, one good and the other evil. The brothers battle for her soul, and the souls of her small town friends and family. Sounds good! Have any of you read it? I’m curious what you thought of it.

Latest Robert Pattinson picture to tide you girls over! He is in L.A. And will present at the Oscars tomorrow night with Kristen Stewart.

You Must Watch This Movie!

I just watched this amazing movie called The Fall. I hadn’t even heard of it before but stumbled across it and I am in love with the little girl in this movie. She is AMAZING and ADORABLE. Lee Pace from Pushing Dasies is also in it and I think he is a revelation of an actor. The story is set at a Los Angeles hospital in the 1920s, Alexandria is a child recovering from a broken arm. She befriends Roy Walker, a movie stunt man with legs paralyzed after a fall. At her request, Roy tells her an elaborate story about six men of widely varied backgrounds who are on a quest to kill a corrupt provincial governor. Between chapters of the story, Roy convinces Alexandria to scout the hospital’s pharmacy for morphine for him. As Roy’s fantastic tale nears its end, Death seems close at hand. The only thing I have left to say is I was weeping at the end. Let me know if you do watch this wonderful movie and tell me your thoughts.
Book into Movie Day
I can’t wait to see this movie! The cast alone is incredible. The movie stars Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johanson, Ben Affleck, Justin Long, Bradley Cooper and Ginnifer Goodwin. The release date is October 24, 2008. I haven’t read the book though. The book synopsis is below.
Everyone can use a daily wake-up call.
Now in bite-size mantras, the abridged empathetic wit and wisdom of the number one New York Times bestseller He’s Just Not That Into You will recharge and inspire your dating outlook one wake-up call at a time.
For ages women have come together over coffee, cocktails, or late-night phone chats to analyze the puzzling behavior of men. Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo are here to say that —despite good intentions— you’re wasting your time. Men are not complicated, although they’d like you to think they are. And there are no mixed messages.
The truth may be, He’s just not that into you.
He’s Just Not That Into You —based on a popular episode of Sex and the City— educates otherwise smart women on how to tell when a guy just doesn’t like them enough, so they can stop wasting time making excuses for a dead-end relationship. This book knows you’re a beautiful, smart, funny woman who deserves better.
Book Into Movie Day
I was going to post about another book into movie until I found this. Here is a newly released scene from the upcoming Twilight movie. It looks SO good. The movie comes out slated to come out December 12,2008. If you haven’t read the book yet you still have some time!
Book Into Movie
This week’s book into movie is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button based on the book by F Scott Fitzgerald. It doesn’t come out until Christmas, but I had to post it because it looks AMAZING! Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are the stars. It is about a man who is born old and ages backwards which is a dilemma for the woman he falls in love with. Has anyone read the book? I haven’t but I will before this movie comes out!
