Scene It Eighties Game Review

Scene It? 80s Deluxe Edition

Do you enjoy trivia games?  Scene It Movies is one of our favorite games. We have had hours of fun playing it, so when I found out Scene It had an eighties trivia version, I had to try it out. I grew up in the eighties so I knew I would have fun re-living them. The cover alone brings giggles, because it features Kirk Cameron. Who didn’t love him?   If you have played any of the other Scene It games, the Eighties trivia version has the same basic set up.

The game begins with players choosing one of four collectible tokens to represent their team. The game board is collapsible and features two sizes, giving you the option of playing a 15-minute quick game or a 40-minute extended game.  Teams advance around the board by answering two types of questions: traditional trivia cards and DVD-based puzzles. The trivia cards, which resemble what you might find in Trivial Pursuit, come in three different categories: green “Take Three” questions, orange “Songs, Slogans and Sayings” questions, and yellow “Pop Culture” questions. They vary in difficulty, and some of the tougher questions are challenging enough to stump even the most loyal ’80s enthusiasts.

The main attraction, however, is the interactive DVD game. Featuring hundreds of video clips, sound bites, and images from the ’80s, the DVD challenges players to solve brain-teasing puzzles. With a variety of different puzzle categories, the DVD puts your knowledge of ’80s to the test. Categories include “Distorted Reality,” where players must identify a character based on a distorted image, and “Spellbinders,” which challenges players to decode a secret message.

They cover the popular movies, tv shows, songs, fads and more from the eighties and it was so much fun to remember them. If you are a Scene It fan and know some eighties trivia, you would definitely enjoy this game. By the way, I did win against my husband.  Scene It games are available at Amazon and stores everywhere.

REVIEW

I am not a big fan of exercising to DVDs (or even exercising for that matter) LOL. There have been some cheesy and awful ones put out there. Anyone remember The Grind? I was pleasantly surprised that Bollywood Booty was fairly easy and fun to do. I think because of three main reasons. One: Hemalayaa has a relaxed and fun attitude throughout the DVD. Two: She broke up the DVD into four sections that lasted only 6-12 minutes each. Three: The moves make you feel sexy and good about yourself, especially when Hemalayaa encourages you to embrace your body and that Bollywood loves curvy women. A wonderfully fresh perspective in a thin driven culture. The price is great too!   Bollywood Booty is available at Target, Acacialifestyle.com, Amazon and wherever fitness DVDs are sold. My five year old and I had fun working out our Bootys!  You can watch this fun video of Hemalayaa teaching Ellen to tone her booty. So funny!

Do your children watch Wow! Wow! Wubbzy? I can’t say enough good things about Nick Jr. shows and this show has even won an Emmy. More important than that is the positive modeling of social skills, such as honesty, cooperation and fairness, in a fun and engaging way.

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! airs nearly 40 times a week on Nick Jr. and Noggin and on February 3, will be releasing its newest DVD, A Little Help From My Friends. The DVD features six great episodes, all focused on the important values of friendship. This theme takes center stage as Wubbzy, a fun, lovable, curious little guy and his Wuzzleburg pals search for a lost Wiggle Wrench, escape a runaway Doodleberry Cake, build a Super Robot, teach Walden to boogie, and work hard for Wuzzleburg trophies. Together they discover the importance of positive values like confidence, cooperation, teamwork and above all, the meaning of friendship. The DVD extras also include two bonus episodes, music video, Kooky Kostume game, activities and sneak peeks.

Parents can get involved by visiting www.wubbzy.com where they can join the “Wubb Club,” sign up for the newsletter, read the Wubbzy Blog, and listen to Wubbzy podcasts. ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE CHIPETTES
chipettes
Alvin, Simon and Theodore finally meet their match in free spirited mischief-maker Brittany, absent minded Jeanette and adorable Eleanor. America’s favorite female Chipmunks star in their very own DVD, ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE CHIPETTES debuting January 13, 2009 from Bagdasarian Productions and Paramount Home Entertainment. Just when it seems like Alvin and his brothers can’t get into any more trouble, The Chipettes arrive to take their hilarious hijinks to a whole new level! For the first time on DVD, six fun-filled animated episodes packed with sidesplitting, musical adventures introduce a new generation to the beloved female characters of the wonderful chipmunk franchise.

ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: THE CHIPETTES is presented in full screen format with Dolby Digital English stereo. Episodes include:

· May the Best Chipmunk Win (1983): When Brittany and Alvin both run for class president, it all comes down to one vote—Brittany’s sister, Jeanette!

· Operation Theodore (1984): When she loses track of a patient, hospital volunteer Brittany convinces the unwitting Theodore to hop into bed and pretend he’s sleeping.

· Sisters (1985): Brittany is ready to do just about anything to become part of an elitist group, “The Sisters” at school—even if it comes at the expense of her real sisters.

· The Greatest Show Offs on Earth (1984): The Chipmunks and Chipettes help a kindly circus owner save his show from the evil clutches of Mr. Snively.

· My Fair Chipette (1984): With the school beauty pageant coming up, Alvin bets Brittany he can turn anyone into a pageant winner. But when Brittany chooses Jeanette, Alvin realizes this just might be mission impossible.

· Tell It to the Judge (1987): Brittany and Alvin fight over a bike and roller skates, and wind up taking their squabble to a TV judge, where they give hilariously different account of events.

Readeez DVD Giveaway!

readeez-dvd-cover-300dpi

I love this DVD!  It is educational and fun for kids, . Readeez are a new concept in children’s entertainment. They combine the written word with the spoken word in a way that gives kids the unique experience of being read to while reading for themselves. More than cartoons, they’re learning disguised as smiling.  Large, clear text appears at the exact moment the character says the word, syllable by syllable. My son loves to write and learn about letters, so The Readeez DVD fascinated him and the educational aspects delighted me.  You should have seen him watching, he was so fascinated!  The best part are the narrators of the DVD, Isabel and her dad.  They are adorable to watch, and I love the fact Readeez shows the loving relationship of a father and daughter.

Readeez are also jam-packed with music! A dozen or so original songs,  are sprinkled throughout the disc, along with old standards like “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” and “Ten Little Indians” (which is upgraded to “Ten Little Isabels”).

Right now when you buy a DVD, Readeez will donate another DVD to a library, day care, or school!   And on top of that, they will give you 15% off!  Go to www.readeez.com to buy Volume One!  Also I am so excited, they are coming out with a Bible Readeez soon!

They also want to give one of you a copy of The Volume One DVD!  Happy Holidays!

TO ENTER: VISIT READEEZ WEBSITE AND WATCH ONE OF THE SHORT SAMPLE VIDEOS FROM THE DVD, AND COME BACK AND TELL ME WHICH VIDEO YOU LIKE.  THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN TO WATCH!

FOR SECOND ENTRY: STUMBLE, TWITTER OR SUBSCRIBE ( NEW ONLY) AND LINK IT BACK HERE IN A SECOND COMMENT
