When Women Stood  The Untold History of Females Who Changed Sports and the World

When Women Stood: The Untold History of Female Athletes Who Changed Sports and the World by Alexandra “Alex” Allred

is an eye-opening chronicle of the amazing women who refused to accept the status quo and fought for something better for themselves and for those Female Athleteswho would follow.   Featuring exclusive insight from Female athletes such as Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Kathrine Switzer, Nancy Liberman, Briana Scurry, and Nancy Hogshead-Maker, this book includes the stories of female football players, Olympic athletes, powerlifters, soccer stars, historians, archeologists, crusaders, and scientists.

How do women affect society?  There are many ways that they do this and sports was only one way.  Alexandra Allred wrote this nonfiction book to educate society on the importance of women in many facets of living.  Alexandra Allred writes that women are more than gatherers and child bearers and mothers.  Women have their minds and want to share what they know and can do and feel good about themselves.  Alexandra in her writing goes back to the prehistoric eras to the present time describing the various aspects of society and how women fit into the home, schools, and communities that we all belong to and try to fit into personally and professionally.  Women and men are biologically the same except for the reproductive systems and the organs needed.  We all should be treated fairly as the person we are not as a sex or gender.  To me, that is what Alexandra Allred is stating in this academic book with all the facts and statistics that she shared. The layout of the book is hardback and the type is a small (elite) type but is still easy to read the pictures from the various generations from the past to the present gives you a sense of the history of the women in ways of life.
