Are you a Biased Writer?
I remember being asked to write a reflective essay on a famous poem by Robert Frost. As the name of the author was revealed by our professor, I couldn’t help but smile. My mind was already overflowing with details on what to deduce per line out of my own experience. I was confident of my grammar, I double-checked and knew I followed the instructions, and I was just expecting a nice mark once the papers are returned to us. As it turned 
out, I was too subjective and didn’t hit the target.
Biased writing is borderline rant, simply put. To express it in an academic manner, biased writing is a subjective and oftentimes insensitive-toned product of a poorly-researched subject and an even poorer capacity to present facts and complete details.
Tricks and Tips to Write in an Unbiased Manner
There is no tell-all writing guide about what an unbiased essay should be. Essay writing can be an unbiased literary masterpiece by considering only four simple rules, and presenting them in easy yet effective tricks and tips. They are:
· Balance –make sure that the weight of information in one subject is the same as the other. The magnanimity on which one subject is presented should also be matched with how the other one is. If it is a persuasive essay, the pros must also include the cons to better appreciate subject. In an expository essay, the side of the victim should also be counterweighed by the statement from the accused.
– Trick: follow an essay outline
– Tip: keep it short
· Research – nothing beats a well-informed, knowledgeable mind. While the magic of the Internet has already provided us with answers to almost 
every question, the information must still be analyzed. Is it from a scholastic source? When was it written? Are the writers free contributors to an open public information website? Research papers should never quote from non-academic sources, personal blogs, and shared posts in the social media. Verify, verify, verify.
– Trick: don’t create and submit without access to the source
– Tip: choose topics you are already knowledgeable of
· Objectivity – if the task is to create an expository essay, present nothing but facts. A bit of essay editing may also be needed if the writer fails to go back to the facts after presenting the statistics and data. No personal comments necessary, use argumentative essay advice’s for your work.
– Trick: never use the “I” word
– Tip: it’s not about you
· Sensitivity – the most common issues on lack of sensitivity are gender, religion, race, and politics. Although grammar accepts the general term “man” to mean all of humanity, male and female, gender activists could raise an issue with good reason. A comparative essay on terrorists and Muslim bombers will raise an issue on “why not say Catholic or Protestant terrorist” if the religion of the bomber is included? To be safe, just compare the terrorists and the bombers.
– Trick: use he/she, omit religions and race as adjectives.
-Tip: be very careful on this glitch. It can be pretty tacky
The key to a good writer is to be appealing to all readers regardless of their affiliations. If even the slightest hint of favoritism or ranting is felt, then it calls for a good essay editing. You’ll be surprised how positive and refreshing an unbiased work is.
