“Future meets present.”  LaMar Giles has written a middle school novel entitled ‘The Last Last-Day-of-Summer’ that is about every kid’s dream of summer vacation never ends.  This is the story of two cousins by the names of Otto and Sheed and how they did not want summer vacation to end. This story starts out in a town called Logan in the state of Virginia where it seems that strange things occur when these cousins are visiting their Grandma.  Otto and Sheed are always up for an adventure and inventing ideas.

The last day of summer

LaMar Giles has written a story for the African-American citizenry that shows that we are all the same and that skin color really does not matter when actual ‘time’ is involved for we all need to work together.  ‘The Last Last-Day-of-Summer’ fulfills a lot of kids dreams of when the first day of school comes around and tries to figure a way to stop it maybe the way these cousins try to do.  The cover art is very creative that does give the reader a sense of what is kind of happening in the story. he cover does give a clue to may happen in the book. Kids and adults will like this story for it has many lessons to learn.  This will be a good piece of literature that leads to or could lead to discussions on what the story is about.  Other areas could be science as well as social studies.
