Oh, the wonders what goes through all our minds in various situations.  This is a story that is a type of detective story without being one that follows one type of formula. This is a story of a man named ‘Joyce Brennan’, but he doesn’t go by that name and his trials and tribulations of a crime he may or may not have committed.  Brennan as he discovers how to survive in jail and wait for his trial that he learns a lot about himself by the behaviors of who and what is in his environment.

Gary C. McAuley has written a novel that is quite psychological in nature. ‘That Bedsprings Guy’ is a novel that starts out with a misunderstanding, but escalates into a criminal escapade and a journey through the legal system. Gary uses the language and shares the in’s and out’s of being in a jail and keeping the faith of oneself.

‘That Bedsprings Guy’ is also a story that could be used as a supplemental reading about learning what the legal system from the standpoint of the culprit and law enforcement.  Gary used his descriptive talents to a tee when describing the interrogation room as well as the jail cell and the other cellmates during Brennan’s stay in jail.  Gary covers Brennan’s feelings in before and during his stay in the jail for a crime that he does not remember committing when he caught his wife having an affair at the beginning of ‘That Bedsprings Guy’.
