One Little Pig

Anything is possible with a bit of faith, hope and compassion

One Little Pig, Written by the team of Laura Lee Scott and Cheryl Crouthamel that created the enchantingly adorable Jessica Claus in  THE SANTA SWITCH & A TRIP FOR MRS. CLAUS

We all know the story of the Big Bad Wolf and the Three Little Pigs right? Ok so this is a story of One Little Pig and Three potentially Little Bad Wolves. I say potentially bad wolves because like life so often shows us many times people (wolves) are a product of their environment. Three mean grumpy selfish little wolves are told by MaMa Wolf to venture out on their own. They are only worried about looking out for themselves and not about anyone else.

What happens next is an amazing thing. Enter Engelbert, our One Little Pig. He befriends these wolves . While ignoring his fearOne Little Pig of these natural enemies he shows them kindness and love. At first the wolves are quite confused by this silly little pig and would normally just see a nice Ham dinner. But soon through Engelbert‘s friendship they learn compassion the power of sharing and pf course friendship.

Once again the Illustrations by Cheryl Crouthamel are amazing. Big bright and colorful they can almost tell the story all by themselves. The book comes in paperback and ebook BUT if you buy it I would highly recommend the beautiful large 8×11 Hardcover. As with her other books you get the full effect of the beautiful illustrations to go along with the message of compassion  with the full size hardcover. It is really a very well constructed book.

And don’t forget to search for the friendly little Caterpillar hiding on every page.

I think this book by Laura Lee Scott is a must have for every Kindergarten ,First,Second and Third Grade Classroom. Any Teacher should be proud to teach the story of Engelbert. It would also be a great tool in any anti-Bullying campaign,

This is a great message and lesson for all the children that pick up this book or the parents too. It teaches us what a little kindness and understanding can accomplish.

Book Summary

When gentle-hearted Engelbert first encounters Agnes and Cornelius Wolf–two of three notoriously naughty wolf pups–they’re busy making life miserable for all the woodland animals. Recently kicked out of Mama Wolf’s house, Agnes has built a new home in a field of mortified mice.  Cornelius has staked a claim near a stream full of seriously stressed-out fish. As Engelbert watches Agnes pummel a smelly punching bag and Cornelius traumatize trout, he’s reminded of another big bad wolf…one who many years before had tried to EAT his brothers after blowing down their houses. Compelled to help bring peace to the forest, the wise, little changemaker comes up with a brilliant idea. But, can the animals learn to put aside their obvious differences and sorted past? If so, the awesome power of compassion will not only help these previously “bad” wolves unlock their true potential–it will unify the entire animal kingdom as never before.
