Do you remember your mom or dad bringing home Melba toast when you were little? I remember I was about eight when I first tried some. My mom would buy Melba toast whenever she was on a diet. I don’t remember the brand, but I was always happy when she bought some because I loved the taste. I thought “diet food” was really good, until I got older. I think my brother and I ate the whole box before my mom could even eat them for her diet. The brand might have been Old London because they have been making Melba Toast since the 1930s. The first Melba oven was built in 1932, leading to the development of the Melba Round. These improvements allowed Old London to introduce the first restaurant packs to the public, gaining widespread approval. Today Old London carries over 20 flavors of authentic, original, crunchy taste sensations in Rounds and Toasts.
My friends at Mom Central sent us some Old London melba toast to try and we were very happy to oblige them. We tried three flavors, Spicy Cheddar, Roasted Garlic and Whole Wheat Grain Melba Rounds. I had everyone in the family try them and they are a big hit in our house. Nolan loves them and I asked him which one was his favorite, his response was “all of them!” They aren’t dry or stick to the top of your mouth. My favorite is the garlic. I would recommend Old London melba toast and they are a healthy snack for your children and you.
Visit Old London’s website for nutritional information and some yummy and healthy recipes. I am going to try the Cheesy Rye Tomato Melt Snacks. I included that recipe below. It looks so easy and good. Look for the Old London Specialty Cracker Section in your local grocery store.
