Ninja Cat

 Whiskers of Choice

  Justin Donner and Corrigan Donner

This is a world of learning and Lando the Ninja Cat learns a lot throughout this book by Justin and Corrigan Donner, who are father and son collaborators.  ‘Ninja Cat Whiskers of Choice’ is the story of several groups of animals who take on human characteristics who live in the city, the suburbs and the country.  It shows a study of survival for animals and humans.  We all have to work together to solve individual and group issues and Ninja Cat problems.  The issue of this story is how to get out of debt legally even if the loan is not.  The characters are trying to survive day to day with debts getting bigger hanging over their heads by a ‘loan shark’.
This is a story that teachers and even parents could teach some economics and math skills and even some psychology skills.  These areas can be seen and read on page 18 when the STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) method in education is mentioned and learning to be and patient on page 20.
In learning to survive and getting a loan there will or should be a balance of fear and charm that is shown through a particular character of the book that tells the reader that is not the way to solve a particular situation in learning about Supply and Demand on page 40.  Psychology comes into the mix when Bird learns about budgets on page 48.  Other skills in math such as how to figure out what compound interest is all about on pages 56 through 62.  On page 74 the character of Old School shares what is important and what we all nee do in our lives in some way.
Just for fun on page 96 is a tongue twister that is kind of fun to say and on page 134 we all learn there may be consequences to how we live our life and lives as the author and the editor show at the beginning of the book listing and describing the characters and at the end giving suggestions for other uses for the book as well and I thought the same.

Summary of Ninja Cat

For children to understand and remember important life lessons, the delivery of the message needs to entertain them. Justin Donner does a great job of tackling tough topics like bullying, stress, emotions, finances, socioeconomic differences and more in his new children’s book, Ninja Cat: Whiskers of Choice. Kid-friendly dialogue, cute black and white illustrations that kids can color, and warm and wise characters in funny scenarios all come together to help make learning important life lessons so much more enjoyable for children.

The story tells of a mischievous cat named Lando who lives alone in the big city and hangs out with friendly humans as well as the City Crew―his diverse team of animal friends. The Crew gets into a heap of trouble after borrowing money from the notorious Loan Shark to buy a big TV, gaming console, video games and, of course, a mountain of snacks they immediately devoured―but now it’s time to pay him back. With no money, and the interest mounting, they have no clue how they’re going to do it…
