bookroomreviews  is pleased to be part of theBlog Tour for the tween chapter book “Miss Priss: On and Off the Court” by Judy Phillips and Brenda Nichols from September 15 to 21, 2015.

MISS PRISS: ON AND OFF THE COURT is book one in the new tween chapter series by Mom’s Choice Award winning writer-illustrator Team, ‘Brenjudy’,Judy Phillips and Brenda Nichols

On and Off the Court  is a very good age appropriate book that 10-13 year old kids will certainly “GET” .  Priscilla Penelope Paxton is a very realistic 10 year old character. Filled with the typical trials and tribulations of a 10 year old girl. Not only does she have to put up with little Sister Pearl, deal with the cruelty and backstabbing of the “other”girls at school. Not to mention MOM. Then there’s that CraZy Squirrel.

Many Life lesson here but of course my favorite (Being a Grandfather) Priss thinking “WOW! Paw Paw really knows what he’s talking about realizes her Grandad knows his stuff.Along the way she also learns working hard pays off in the end. There is also the message to all of us Let the kids do what interest them and don’t force them into things. Also support from friends and family certainly help and Miss Priss gets it.The book is full of Fun,and witty writing and the author capture the soul of a ten year old girl. The friendship between Priscilla and her best friend Bobbie is very realistic between their arguments and apologies. The best thing about this is that it’s the first of a series I think we will be given the chance to see Miss Priss again as she thinks to herself…

Now that give me an Idea –

About the Book

Title: Miss Priss: On and Off the Court | Author: Judy Phillips | Illustrator: Brenda Nichols | Publication Date: August 20, 2015 | Publisher: Tadpole Press …4 Kids (a division of Smooth Sailing Press) | Pages: 230 | Recommended Ages: 8 to 12

Summary: Priscilla Penelope Paxton is a witty ten year old whose interests and curiosity land her in, sometimes, sticky situations. Dance classes, Girl Scouts, school assignments, friends and hanging out at her family’s drug store, and the local Piggly Wiggly would leave any other person with no time for any-thing else. Yet, the thrill of basketball and joining the Little Dribblers finds its way into Miss Priss’ heart. Though this interest will prove to be a dream that requires overcoming the greatest of challenges; Mom’s opposition. A task that will require ingenuity, perseverance and a little help from some loved ones.
