What’s wrong with ants anyway?  JTK Belle has written a children’s animal story about an anteater who meets up with a friend and they have a conversation about why Anteater 1 does not like to eat ants.  This is a story of friends trying to convince each other what to eat and what is proper to eat.  Later in the story a third anteater is also introduced in a surprising way.
At the beginning and other selected scenes there is a sideline conversation between two ants.  The ants conversation goes on at the same time as the anteaters keep discussing what an anteater eats and Anteater 1 goes into a whole lot of different foods that he likes better than ants.  My favorite part of the story was when Anteeater 1 and 2 and they enter a place and A JTK Belle is a creative group of writers in a family way. Anteater 3 is introduced as a place where anteater’s favorite meal is served.
The artwork by Sabine is creative and colorful yet it seems subdued and does not get lost against the white pages.  Classroom teachers could this picture book to teach a mini science lesson on anteaters and introduce the real animal name for anteater (aardvark).  There could also be a mini health/nutrition lesson discussing the proper foods to eat to stay healthy compared to what the one anteater likes. It is also a good book to teach about sharing ideas.
