FritoLayRegionalFlavorsHave you tried the new Frito Lay line of Regional Flavored chips, yum! These chips were inspired by popular American regional cuisine and include:

  • Northeastern U.S. – Lay’s Honey Mustard
  • Midwestern U.S. – Lay’s Creamy Garden Ranch
  • Northwestern U.S. – Lay’s Balsamic Sweet Onion
  • Southwestern U.S. – Lay’s Chipotle Ranch
  • Southeastern U.S. – Lay’s Cajun Herb & Spice

All of the Lay’s Regional Flavored potato chips are made with all natural ingredients and cooked in healthier oils, like corn and sunflower oils, which contain 80% or more of polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat – the “good fats.” They also contain 0 grams of trans fats per serving! There’s also less sodium in them than you might think – a 1-oz serving of our Lay’s Regional Flavored potato chips contains less salt than a plain bagel.

I am a Midwestern girl and I think our Pizza Ball recipe would be a yummy easy and family involved recipe to submit for the Frito Lay contest. I love to dip them in Ranch dressing, instead of marinara. You should try it sometime, trust me it is so good!

INGREDIENTS

1 (14 ounce) can or flat refrigerated pizza dough

  • 1 1/2 cups pizza toppings (this may include a mix of pepperoni, onion, green pepper, ham … anything you like. All chopped fine)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups pizza sauce, for dipping
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, for the topping
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Prepare your pizza dough by rolling a large rectangle, about 12″x10″. Then cut in 24 squares.

Fill each square with tablespoon of pizza sauce, your favorite cheeses and toppings. This is the fun part. You can invite your children to help, they will love adding the toppings.

Pick up each square and pinch both sides of the dough around the filling and roll lightly into a ball.

Baking — place the pizza balls seam side down in a pie dish or pizza pan sprayed well. Don’t worry about them being tooclose, they will pull apart and still taste yummy.

Topping — Mix the olive oil with the garlic and dried seasoning and brush over the pizza balls and then top with a light dusting of the Parmesan cheese.

They will be golden brown, crusty and can be served with a creamy ranch dressing for dipping. They are small bite size tear away pizza balls which are perfect for an easy and fun family involved meal. Pizza Balls are a favorite of all of our boys.
