The First Christmas Night
by Keith Christopher
Illustrated by Christine Kornacki
Well first of all I find it very coincidental that both the Author and Illustrator have Christ in their names. Ok on to the book.We were very fortunate to receive a copy of this book from the publisher to review . To start with the artwork and yes it has to be classified as artwork is simply beautiful. The rich detail and realism of these pages are not something you would normally see in a so called “children’s” book. They are in fact oil paintings created by one Christine Kornacki a true artistic talent.
Oh yeah, about the writing! Geared toward ages 4-8 year olds this is a nice hard cover book written in rhyme in the style of “Twas the Night before Christmas”. A telling of the story of the first Christmas night in Bethlehem. The authors writing style (Keith Christoper) will keep the kids interested as they learn of Mary and Joseph, the shepherds, angels and of course the Three wise men.My wife is a religion teacher at ST. Lawrence Church here in Rochester, NY and as soon as she saw this book she said she would be bringing it into class to read to her students.Start a new tradition this year and read this book to the kids and don’t forget to sign up for the chance to get this great holiday book for free.
