I have a little six year old Granddaughter (Alyssa) that loves to put her dimes and quarters she gets in her piggy bank every now and then she gets some paper money.One day when she and her friend Lily were playing in her room Lily started jiggling the piggy bank. First thing out of Alyssa’s mouth “Hey That’s my money, you can’t take my money”. I thought that was kind of funny.She certainly knows the value of a buck I guess. Anyway here’s a fun little book.
A Trip to the Zoo by C.M. Daniels
This book was certainly not what I was expecting. I was thinking a nice little fun trip to the zoo. BUT! It’s so much more than that.It actually ends up being very educational for kids.
Daniel runs home to ask Mom about visiting the zoo and if buddy Kyle can tag along. The great surprise of this little book is the the fact that it is really about teaching kids about money. Maybe Money is the wrong word. Let’s go with Money management.
Something we all learn sooner or later,hopefully sooner than later. With both kids with a little fun money to bring to the zoo we see two different philosophies.One wants to spend it all and one wants to save a little. But it’s sooo much fun to spend it and buy stuff.It’s certainly a good lesson for kids to learn .Save some for the future.Don’t worry there is nothing preachy about this book.It is a fun trip to the zoo the boys have a great time , Mom tells them all about the animals.About the responsibilities of a Zookeeper.
It's a great book to read to young kids they'll enjoy the trip and won't even realize they're learning about handling money.Who knows it could lead to a great retirement in the future...
