The Lost Diary of Don Juan by Douglas Carlson Abrams is a look at the life of the world's greatest lover.  His story begins in Spain in the sixteenth century.  He was abandoned as an infant by his prostitute mother at a covenant.  As he grows up under the nuns care, he learns how to love women and has an affair with one of the nuns. Eventually, the affair is found out and he is kicked out and goes on to a life of theft to survive.  Juan is then befriended by the Marquis who trains him to be a spy. Of course, he has many conquests in his love life until he finds the beautiful Dona Ana.

The legend of Don Juan is an entertaining and action packed one.  Author Douglas Carlton Abrams engages us from the beginning with this lively and passionate character. I didn’t know much about him before I read The Lost Diary of Don Juan, except that he was a legendary lover.  I was surprised by his humanity and desire to find true love.  The details of this dark time period in Spain made me feel as if I were there.  Some of the parts were a bit too flowery for me but I was still engaged with Don Juan’s story and conflict over his love for Dona Ana.  I would recommend reading The Lost Diary of Don Juan if you are in the mood for a fun adventure.
