MATRIMONY by Joshua Henkin is a moving portrait of marriage. The year is 1986, when Julian and Carter meet
in the renowned professor Stephen Chesterfield’s writing class. Right away the professor tells them they are
the only two in class with talent and they should become friends. This is the starting point of their tumultuous
friendship. One day they spot an
attractive woman, but Julian gets to Mia first. Soon Julian and Mia begin a love affair

Joshua Henkin
is a talented writer. He has fleshed out
complex characters and situations. Matrimony
has it all. It touches on the many
issues that we face everyday in our marriages and life. The characters make mistakes and we relate to
them. I especially related to Mia. There is jealousy, betrayal, loss, and
sickness. If you are looking for a lot
of action then this is not the book for you. But, if you are looking for a character driven
and deeply felt story, you definitely should take that trip to the bookstore. You will be happy that you did.
