With lines like the following ,“An alligator showed up at our wedding, other than that, everything went off without a hitch” I knew I was in for a fun ride. Divorcing Dwayne is the story of Francine. Francine met her husband at the Pickville Springs pork pull. And it was love at first sight. Who can resist a man with good teeth! Things were going great until Francine discovered Dwayne in bed with Carla, the town’s exotic dancer and then chaos ensued. As Francine tells her story, you will meet her best friend, Ray Anne, Trudy, her stepsister, Francine’s grandma, Nanny Lou, who thinks that her dead husband is having an affair with the neighbor and is not really dead, and a whole bunch of other characters you will fall in love with! Loaded with arrests, strippers, the mob and a topless barbershop this is a laugh out loud page turner. I had to look up the author right away and was delighted to find this is the first book in a series about the hilarious adventures of Francine. I would categorize this book as Southern Chick Lit but true to the authors humor I have to quote her as saying it is Southern Grit Lit. I haven’t laughed at a book like this in a while, so I suggest you pull on your britches and haul yourself over to the bookstore to pick this book up.
