I want to tell you about Huru International and the o.b. Campaign to raise awareness and money for them. Huru International, is a non-profit organization that provides at-risk young girls in developing countries with the resources and knowledge they need to complete their education and safeguard their health. Did you know the sanitary protection we don’t give another thought to, is considered a luxury item in developing countries?
Girls are unable to afford sanitary protection, so young woman will resort to dangerous alternatives or simply avoid school for the duration of their periods. Statistic show this can lead girls to abandon school altogether and increases their vulnerability to poverty and disease, including HIV.
That is where o.b. And Huru are helping. The o.b. Brand has created a Share ItForward Facebook campaign to raise money and awareness for Huru International. Now through November, the o.b. Brand will donate $1 (up to $25,000) for every person who visits the o.b. Outreach Tab on the mighty. small.™ movement Facebook page and “Shares” a message about Huru International’s mission.
HURU develops and distributes HURU Kits. Each Kit is packaged in a drawstring bag that doubles as a backpack, and includes reusable sanitary napkins, underwear, soap, a storage bag and educational materials.
