Lose Weight With Your Blackberry

You know about all of the On-line Weight Loss Programs, but did you know there is a new one that will keep in constant touch with you?    Well, in our busy lives we seemingly can’t live without our cell phones or  Blackberries and SENSEI.COM will deliver your personalized diet plan directly to your cell phone.  Not only that, they give you daily menus with recipes, shopping lists, and fitness plans.  How cool is that!   I am so excited to get the opportunity to review Sensei!   I agreed to review it because it looks like a practical, inexpensive and healthy support system for people who want to eat healthier and lose weight.  Especially busy moms like me, who needs all of those aspects.

The sign up was easy to navigate and didn’t take too long,  The computer took me through twelve steps where I chose my own weight loss goal, meal plan options, fitness plan, and times of meals.  They will then e-mail me my meal plan, and shopping list or deliver it to my mobile phone.  There are three terrific meal plan options and you can pick what foods you wouldn’t like to see on your meal plans, which is a huge bonus for me and my picky family.    I really like that I could set up a budget meal plan to save costs on the food that I buy from the grocery store.   Right now you can sign up for a free seven day trial (no credit card necessary) right along with me and see what you think.  I will share my thoughts with you about Sensei after a month, so make sure you check back.  If any of you use Sensei or any other on-line weight loss program please leave me your comments.  I would love to hear what you think!

Compared to the overall monthly costs of NutriSystem ($492)*; Slim-Fast ($609)*; Weight Watchers ($686/online program)*; and Jenny Craig ($812/center-based or online program),* Sensei for Weight Loss Mediterranean diet meal plan, with the budget-friendly option, costs less than $200 per month (includes food and program costs). **

Not only is Sensei one of the most affordable weight loss programs on the market, it is one of the most nutritious. Sensei’s Healthy Eating Index (the measure of diet quality that assesses conformance to Federal dietary guidelines) score is an astounding 90 out of possible 100, compared to the American median score of 49 and the 69 for the top 10% of American diets.

Sensei’s highly anticipated new platform, released last month, includes the new budget-friendly feature, which automates the creation of healthy, personalized and cost-effective meals. Also new is the “Favorites” function and “My Coupons” tab, featuring users’ local grocer sales conveniently available on the site, and affords them to select and repeat favorite foods and meals for their meals to further leverage savings.

Current subscribers to Sensei, a program that transforms a consumer’s mobile phone and desktop into their own “virtual weight loss coach” (PDC), will notice a newly enhanced Web site that is richer in functionality and easier to navigate. The new program will be priced at $15/month for Web-only access, and $20/month for mobile and Web access.

Sensei for Weight Loss is available on most BlackBerries, as well as on most AT&T and Sprint mobile phones. The program is also now available in the App Store for iPhone and iTouch users. To enroll in Sensei For Weight Loss™ or for additional information, visit www.sensei.com

I was looking for information on Sensei and came across your site. As a former customer of Weight Watchers – I know for a fact that it does not (and never has) cost $686 per month. It works with the food you have and is geared more towards portion control. Currently I am looking for a more cost/time efficient program to help me change my lifestyle ($15/week & attending meetings are challenging)

Unfortunately it is also clear that you “took liberties” with the diet comparisons from the article in Business Wire (December 16, 2008) without proper acknowledgment.

This makes me wonder about the promotion of Sensei on your site/blog. (I would not be surprised if this comment does not make it to the comment section).

Best of luck and looking forward to your follow-up review of Sensei.

Lisa, I’d like to clear Tracy here of any manipulation or bias. She was in no way compensated for her post about Sensei. After receiving our press release, Tracy wrote a post based on the information that press release contained including some of the figures you’ve referenced in your comment.

To help clarify: The $686 figure comes directly from a National Business Research Institute study which you will find here: http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS132319+22-Jul-2008+BW20080722 The NBRI study was sponsored by Nutrisystems. I’ve also included a link identifying Weight Watcher’s week one cost to dieters as $388 http://www.forbes.com/2008/12/23/diets-popular-cost-forbeslife-cx_lm_1223health_slide_8.html

In these tough economic times we take very seriously the task of getting all of you information about affordable solutions for weight loss. We hope you continue to find Sensei one of those affordable solutions and all of our information to be honest and helpful.

  17. Hi Helen,
Sorry to hear that, you should be getting e-mails with daily menu plans with recipes and shopping lists. My enrollment only took about 10 minutes too. Not sure what happened but maybe you can contact them at customer service, there probably is one somewhere on the website. If you don’t want to bother though I wouldn’t blame you. I don’t work for them, I am just trying it out and I do like it so far. Thanks for commenting about your experience, they will want to know what everyone’s thoughts are both positive and negative:)
