Generation Hex: Understanding the Subtle Dangers of Wicca by Marla Alupoaicei and Dillon Burroughs. Check out the Other bloggers on this tour for blogtourstop.com

About the Book:

Wicca is America’s fastest growing religion. By the year 2012, it’s projected to be the third largest religion in the United States.

In Generation Hex, Marla Alupoaicei and Dillon Burroughs explore the history, culture, and practices of Wicca. As part of their research, they interviewed travelers to historic Salem, Massachusetts, consulted practitioners of leading neopagan conferences in the Pacific Northwest and Canada, and dialogued with several current and former adherents of Wicca and other forms of witchcraft to evaluate the past and present of this growing spiritual tradition.

The result is a compelling account that will inform and equip Christians (especially parents) to understand Wiccan and New Age teachings. Readers will have confidence to explain this belief system to others and to communicate the gospel to those caught up in this practice.

Generation Hex identifies with the spiritual hunger of a generation seeking truth, authenticity, and hope in a fragmented world. It’s perfect for personal study or as a gift for anyone interested or involved in Wicca.

REVIEW:  First of all the book is called Generation Hex because this generation of teens have been exposed to witchcraft and the occult in many ways including movies, television and especially the internet.  I found the information about Wicca to be very thorough and scary.  The authors say Wicca will be the third biggest religion by 2012.  The result is a compelling account that will inform and equip Christians (especially parents) to understand Wiccan and New Age teachings. After reading Generation Hex you will have confidence and information to explain this belief system to others and to communicate the gospel with love to people caught up in this practice.

Wicca is the safest religion in the world. No one has ever been killed in the name of the Wiccan religion. It’s all worshiping your planet and it’s animals. Litter and bad thoughts at anyone are a “sin”. I sincerly hope there will be that many people practicing one day because the way earth is today, it might not last too much longer on its own.

Just another book equating Wicca with Satanism. That’s kind of funny, as Wiccans don’t believe in Satan. The reason so many young people (mostly women, in fact) are flocking to Wicca and other NeoPagan religions is not TV. It has more to do with the fact that Wiccans hold the Goddess as sacred, women can rise to highest rank in the movement and equality of the sexes is accepted, they worship the earth and respect the environment, think sex and birth control are ok, and believe in the right to choose. Wicca is the antithesis of patriarchal authoritarian religions. I realize such factors put the fear of God in the intended audience of this book. I guess propaganda is comforting to some people, alas.
