I wanted to thank Mia again for hosting such a wonderful giveaway!  Wow! We were overwhelmed at the response and wish we could give everyone a basket!  And for those of you who didn’t win, don’t despair!   Mia loved reading all of your wonderful comments and wants to thank everyone who joined in the fun.  Mia still has a few baskets left and is continuing the  giveaway on her new blog and website at http://www.miaking.com.   Go there today and wish her luck on the release of SWEET LIFE, which came out today and available at booksellers everywhere.  Mia also answered some questions for me about her new book.

Please check back at 5:00p.m. for the announcement of the winners! Sorry, I am still working on the spreadsheet of entries.  Thanks so much!

1. I am fascinated by book covers, could you tell us about yours and the meaning of it.

While I was writing SWEET LIFE I had an image above my desk of a woman’s legs hanging out of a hammock with a child’s legs hanging out next to hers on a white sand beach. That image drove the story in many ways: while the focus of the book is on Marissa’s personal growth, a big part of that is her evolution of a mother. Marissa is learning how to be a better parent to her eight year old daughter Pansy, and it’s her relationship with Pansy pushes Marissa to grow.

Most writers don’t have a lot of say with their book covers, but my publisher has been generous in this way. This is actually the second cover they did. I loved this cover when they proposed it and it captures the tenderness that I feel is the essence of the book.

2. If you could say anything to your readers what would it be?

That it’s never too late to take your life to the next level, whatever that may be. There’s still a lot of room for us to deepen with whom we are and to have richer, more satisfying life experiences.

3.. Our website is called Bookroom Reviews. Could you tell us about your bookroom or area (describe it, what are your favorite things in it, favorite books in it)

I am working on getting a bigger advance so that someday I can have a bookroom! ;-) I read in bed mostly, but I also have a bad habit of reading while I eat, especially if I’m reading something good. Being a mom of three means that I have to read whenever I can, but fortunately I am a really fast reader. If I were to ever have a bookroom or library of my own some day (bliss!), I would definitely have lots of comfortable places to laze around and read, read, read.

4. Have you made all the recipes from the book? Which one is your favorite?

Ooh, no fair. I love them all, but my favorite recipes would be have to be the mango crisp and the chocolate lava cake. I have a bit of a sweet tooth, if that isn’t apparent by now!  Click here to read my Mango Crisp recipe and get a sneak peek at my new blog.

5. What is your favorite thing about living in Hawaii?

Hmmm … aside from the beaches and the volcano? The people. No question.

5. What book are you currently reading?

Shadow Touch by Marjorie M. Liu. I’m not into paranormal romance but everyone has been raving about her so I had to check her out. I love and appreciate good writing, and she’s a great storyteller.
