YA Monday:Black Box by Julie Schumacher

- YA MONDAY
WHAT THIS BOOK IS ABOUT
WHEN DORA, ELENA’S older sister, is diagnosed with depression and has to be admitted to the hospital, Elena can’t seem to make sense of their lives anymore. At school, the only people who acknowledge Elena are Dora’s friends and Jimmy Zenk—who failed at least one grade and wears blackevery day of the week. And at home, Elena’s parents keep arguing with each other. Elena will do anything to help her sister get better and get their lives back to normal—even when the responsibility becomes too much to bear.

This is one of the next ones I will read. Look for my review next week sometime (hopefully!)
It sounds like an interesting book.
I am just loving your YA Mondays. With my daughter getting older, she is looking for books with more meat on them. She’s really not YA age yet, but her reading level doesn’t match her age either. Had this same problem with Jimmy too.
Anyway – thanks for posting these!!
Lenore, I will be checking for your review:)
Kristin, It is very good
J- Thanks sweetie! I was the same way too. That’s awesome! They must take after their mom I’m sure!
I read this book and I really liked it. My family is going through a somewhat similar situation as we speak. It touched me to know that the problem of depression is not being pushed aside.
